Canadian Growers Class- Forcing Winter Tulips

Fresh local tulips for Valentine’s? International Women’s Day? Easter? I say yes!

I have had excellent success forcing tulips in my basement and in our new heated greenhouse. We harvest tulips for 16 consecutive weeks from late January to Mother’s Day!

This will be my 7th year selling tulips at the Brockville Farmers’ Market and the 2nd year at the Ottawa Farmers’ Market. We have a subscription program and love to do arrangements for charity events- all with tulips!

Let’s chat about getting started, what varieties to grow, chilling weeks, where to source bulbs, crates and various details. We’ll explore the possibilities!

The class will consist of one 2-3 hour group session via Zoom (don’t worry, we’ll take a break part way through!).

I will share my knowledge and also point you to helpful resources.

You can ask questions along the way, and begin to develop your unique plan.

You are encouraged to bring a notepad & pen, and be willing to share your thoughts and questions. There will be lots of content to work through.

I will give you access to a number of documents about forcing, as well as some of the handy tips and tools I developed and use here.

We will cover the different aspects of tulip growing, according to season:

• SPRING- Choosing varieties, suppliers, shipping costs

• FALL- planting, labelling, crating, cold storage, cold weeks

• WINTER- cold storage, watering, root formation, rodents

This class will be at 1pm EST via Zoom. Please prepare a distraction free environment and be prepared to use your camera and microphone. This is a one-time Zoom session and will not be recorded.

Limited enrolment so that everyone has a chance to speak and learn.

This course is especially for CANADIAN growers, particularly for ordering bulbs and sourcing materials. We have participants from coast to coast. 

There is no refund for this course, but a missed session can be honoured at a later date, as I will continue to offer the course throughout the year. If there is any issue at all, please reach out.
